The Union's Election processes are governed by Schedule Five (Election Standing Orders) of the Union Constitution.

UBSU shall provide a wide range of services to its membership through its elected officers and permanent staff. Such services shall be provided within the context of UBSU's Equal Opportunities Policy (EOP).
The Policy Statement and Code of Practice (COP) are given to each new Council member, employee and affiliated sports club or society.
UBSU's EOP and COP exist to protect individual members and staff from discrimination on grounds of gender, cultural origin, physical or mental ability, sexuality, age, marital status, responsibility for dependants, unrelated criminal convictions and political or religious beliefs.
