► ESEC Joanna Highfield

Hi my name is Joanna Highfield and I am a first year student studying Events Management.  I am running for Cite Entertainment Chair at Eastbourne campus. I currently take part in swimming and badminton teams.

I feel that voting for me would be ideal for Eastbourne. I study events and I am going for an events post. I feel that I could bring experience gained from my course to university life.

I have gained experience from being on the rag committee and took a physical part in helping with an event in rag week. I am an approachable person and feel this is important if students want to address any issues. I am a fun loving person but also obtain seriousness when targets need to be met and aspects of work.

Entertainment and events in Eastbourne should be more students based. I want to listen to students and give them back a way of relaxing from the stresses of University life with events and entertainment.

The students Union is a way of communicating through students to students about issues throughout university life. It gives students a chance to have their voices and opinions heard and change and develop aspects of their university experience for the greater benefit of themselves and others.

If I were elected I would aim to:

·       Keep students informed of all planned events and entertainments.

·        Allow students to input into possible event proposals

·       Have their say in the direction of the events.

·       Make events more  assessable in terms of transportation

·        Try to have more affordable events

·       More variety of events

The most important thing to remember when supporting students is being able to listen to the opinions but also being able to make a judgement call that will benefit student life as a whole.

Social events for students in Eastbourne are a great way to meet and make new friends. This brings together students from all walks of life, building a stronger community within the campus. For example  social events for new students in order to provide opportunities to meet new people and making the first few weeks of university an easy experience to settle into. These events need to continue with your help and input to the running of future events.

All you need to do now is vote Jo.
