► VPAE Elle Brown

Vote for Elle to make fresher’s week last all year!  Get involved.

Hi, my name is Elle.  I’m in my 3rd year of Communication and Media Studies and I’m running for the position of Vice President Activities and Events.

Through writing for The Pebble I’ve received a lot of feedback from you guys with the same general consensus.  Fresher’s week is the best week of the year.  Our union goes above and beyond to ensure that we aren’t short of things to do, from the fresher’s ball to the party on the pier.  I ask, why doesn’t this continue throughout the year?  I think it should and through talking to you all, it seems you think the same thing too.  I’m passionate about ensuring that every Brighton student enjoys their time here as much as I have and makes the most of their experiences.

If elected I will ensure we offer a variety of regular events that allows the entire student body to engage with the union every week for their entire university experience; ‘open-to-everyone events’ such as battle of the bands, cross-campus quizzes, cinema evenings and cub nights to name but a few.   I will also oversee the organisation of community events such as charity fundraisers and volunteer work in order to reach out and help our local community as well as boost your own experiences.  You shouldn’t have to join a society to benefit from all the union has to offer.  That said if a society is more up your street I’ll be here to help.  Want to set up your own society?  From stamp and coin club to a Bruce Lee appreciation society I’ll be there with you to make sure the whole process is as easy as making a cup of tea.  The union needs to be opened up, to be made more accessible for everyone.  We need improvement, we need change! And I’m here to make it happen.

If you vote for me I’ll be here to secure better facilities, equipment and transport for our fabulous and talented sports teams...after all it’s us Brighton Students that they’re representing.  I will happily be your point of contact if there are any issues you feel need addressed.  If you care about it, I care about it and it’ll be my job to fix it.

Our societies are a vital part of university life. Improving the support system and fundraising strategies for our all of our diverse societies such as the LGBT is essential.  Most of us will only experience University life once; let’s make the most of it!

Last but by no mean least I’ll be dedicated to bringing all of our campuses together, ensuring that all Grand Parade, Falmer, Eastbourne, Hastings and Plumton students are not forgotten!  Ensuring that everyone has the chance to be involved with all University events with the support of better communications and supplemented student transport.

A vote for me will be a vote for improvement, a vote for inclusion and a vote for equality.  Not only do I think I can do this job, I know I can do it well, and make you guys proud.  If you give me the chance I won’t let you down.  You can vote via Student Central from 10am Monday 15th March 24hours a day until 4pm Friday 19th March.  Get Involved!

Thank you.
