Union Management Group

The Union Management Group is responsible for the day to day organisational management of UBSU. This includes staffing issues and the financial affairs of UBSU. This group exists in the context of the policy framework created by officers and seeks to ensure UBSU has appropriate resources to deliver policy objectives as set by officers

The Trustee Board

The trustee board exists to ensure UBSU operates within the appropriate legal framework. The board is responsible for the management of staff and assumes overall financial responsibility for UBSU. While the board may retain overall responsibility for the activities of UBSU it will only intervene on policy areas when there are legal or prudent financial reasons to do so.

When asked specifically about the make up of any trustee board 30% of respondents stated a preference for a board made up of a mix of normal students, external trustees and some elected officers. The next highest preference was for a board of officers and students (21%) and then full and part time officers (19%).
